Director - Banking Systems 

We are currently looking for an Influential Leader, who will inspire, engage and develop the IT Banking Systems Team while ensuring the availability, continuous evolution and improvement of those systems. Ideally we are looking for an experienced Senior Leader who have previously managed teams of 30-50 people and has strong knowledge of Core Banking Systems.

Your team

You will lead 36 employees across 3-4 agile squads made up of both IT and Banking members. Employees report into the Manager, Banking (BK) Systems Services and Manager, Banking (BK) Systems Delivery.  BK Systems Services has carriage over systems architecture/design, maintenance, operations and continuous improvement; whilst the BK Systems Delivery team is responsible for the delivery roadmap with and build out of technology capability including development for the services Banking offers its customers. While leading those teams you will be working on Process Simplification, increasing value for Banking (and its customers) and crafting the Future State of Banking Systems based on emerging technologies and new trends in the industry.

Do work that makes a difference

  • Provide strong leadership by developing the team’s professional expertise and empowering respective teams to continually improve processes and services
  • Ensure that the Bank has capabilities needed to maintain the integrity and availability of critical banking systems with 99.95% availability
  • Contribute to the broader strategic direction and leadership of the area, sharing accountability with other leaders for overall performance of deliverables and outcomes that meet current and future needs
  • Establish and maintain RBA values aligned culture by enabling an environment for high levels of employee engagement and achievement as well as culture focused on continuous improvement
  • Contribute to the improvement of policies, systems and processes, ensuring the integrity and suitability of information, disciplined documentation and alignment with industry standards.

Skills and Experience

  • Degree qualification in IT and experience in design/development of banking applications & systems
  • Extensive experience in leading multi-cultural and diverse teams working on highly complex systems development and maintenance activities
  • Strong capability to build relationships to bridge the divide between business and technology advocates to deliver value to the business
  • Advanced knowledge of managing high availability systems with 99.95% availability that are critical real time systems with high throughput requirements and 24x7 operational requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing strategic objectives
  • Proven track record in process simplification and upgrade of technologies and systems
  • Commercial and risk acumen in managing complex technology environments
  • Senior and executive stakeholder management and Board-level communications
  • Experience of working with Government agencies would be desirable
