Chief Information Officer


The Company

The Role
The Chief Information Officer's role is to provide vision and leadership for the technological direction of the organisation and for developing and implementing information technology initiatives. The CIO directs the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems in support of business operations to improve cost-effectiveness, service quality, and business development.
You will be responsible for all aspects of the organization's information technology and systems including information and data integrity and technology functions including;

  • Ensure a stable and secure platform for the ongoing provision of services that enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the information technology, data, and communications systems with a focus on utilisation of digital tools to enhance the customer experience.
  • Build, lead and motivate a highly professional, customer-oriented, innovative, and future-focussed IT function.
  • Support growth by converting traditional analogue processes to digital processes, including promotion of mobile applications, social media and related applications.
  • Align systems, structures and processes with business objectives and strategies in line with industry best practice.
  • Provide leadership and governance of the Digital IT Strategy and Data Strategy and architecture, ensuring alignment with government standards and the organisations strategic direction.

About You
As this is a CIO role overseeing a traditional operational and product-driven development team, you will need experience across agile development concepts and best practices to be successful in this role.

Experience across the following is also highly desirable.

  • Strong business acumen including the ability to effectively anticipate and plan for the future IT-related needs of the business.
  • Proven ability to lead a true digital transformation.
  • Experience of big data tools and their use in creating insight.
  • Ability to advise, influence, and consult across the organisation on IT services and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to source and implement innovative solutions and deliver continuous improvement.
  • Excellent people management skills including the ability to motivate, develop and mentor direct reports and develop a high performing team.
