Introduction
Defence requires an exceptional senior executive to fill a position at the Senior Executive Service Band 1 level in its Security and Estate Group.

As part of the Senior Leadership Group, you will play a key role in promoting and influencing a shared commitment to the strategic direction of Defence.

You will:

  • Lead and manage a Branch practicing inclusive leadership and collaboration;
  • Demonstrate strong judgement and capitalise on innovative alternatives to resolve complex problems;
  • Effectively challenge the status quo when required; and
  • Demonstrate resilience and personal accountability for the quality of advice and delivery of results through engaging, collaborating and partnering.

The Role
The Assistant Secretary Regional Services – North & Central Zone is responsible for leading and managing the Northern & Central Zone (NCZ) Branch in Service Delivery Division. You will be responsible for managing multiple significant operational bases, including Defence’s most significant and largest training areas and all other Defence sites in Queensland, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

You will provide leadership and support to enable substantial multinational and bilateral exercises such as Pitch Black and Talisman Sabre, along with support to the USFPI (United States Force Posture Initiative) and the ASMTI (Australian Singaporean Military Training Initiative) and other International partnerships. You will provide high level strategic advice and play an integral role in delivering key service delivery outcomes and priorities for Government, while contributing to the Defence, Security and Estate Group and Service Delivery Division senior executive teams and supporting the integration of enabling services.

You will lead and manage specific support and Zone functions including business continuity management policies and processes, base management, estate management & planning, environment and sustainability, Work Health & Safety (WHS) and risk management and zone coordination.
