Senior Executive Service Band 1
Salary may be negotiated with the successful candidates
We are seeking to attract talented candidates for positions at the Senior Executive Service (SES) Band 1 level that will contribute to ASD’s mission and have relevant skills to work in a critical enabling role for the agency.
ASD is currently undergoing a significant transformation in its history – doubling in size, expanding its presence both nationally and globally, and delivering significant new and enhanced intelligence and security capabilities for Australia. As a senior leader in ASD, you will have an important role leading this change.
We have two roles currently available:
• The Assistant Director-General Security and Integrity (reference #5511) is responsible for managing complex protective security functions for ASD and the Defence Intelligence Agencies (DIA). It leads the development and implementation of strategic security-related initiatives aimed at strengthening the organisation’s protective security postures. The role manages a range of human, technical and physical resources, including psychological services, to achieve security-related business outcomes. It manages all aspects of security, including insider threats, and is responsible for maintaining and implementing ASD’s integrity framework and reporting mechanisms, and ensuring appropriate implementation of standards within the Protective Security Policy Framework.
• The Assistant Director-General Governance (reference #5513) is responsible for a range of corporate functions that support the administration of ASD as a statutory agency within the Defence portfolio, including enterprise committee management, enterprise performance, organisational policy, internal audit and records management. The role is also responsible for the delivery of ASD’s history and proactive declassification programs, and management of public access requests.
If you are interested in these roles, please apply for job ASD/09181/23.
In all SES Band 1 positions, you will have responsibility for leading a Branch through ASD’s current transformation, while continuing to deliver on the operational requirements of the position. You will work closely with international partners, and will manage an Australia-wide workforce.
As part of the Senior Leadership Group, you will play a key role in promoting and influencing a shared commitment to the strategic direction of ASD as the Australian Government’s foreign signals intelligence, offensive cyber, and cyber security agency. You will influence the strategic direction of ASD and work with colleagues across the Defence portfolio and Government to achieve results.
Successful applicants will exemplify ASD’s values and engender a culture of achievement, collaboration and agility. You will be self-aware, and will encourage and respect the diversity of ideas and perspectives that defines ASD’s workforce.
