About the Research Office

UTS is one of Australia’s leading research universities and is a member of the Australian Technology Network.

The Research Office is a key central unit within the portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and enables research activities across UTS in partnership with faculty research offices and other support units. The Research Office’s responsibilities include developing researchers, identifying and applying for research funding, post-award grant management, research contracts, research stewardship, ethics, integrity, research risk management, IP management, translation, commercialisation, business development, industry partnerships and research data intelligence.

About the role

As the Deputy Director, you will have a critical role in leading the Research Office and supporting the UTS2027 Strategy. Reporting to and working closely with the Director, you will have responsibility for the operational effectiveness of the office. Whilst resources are distributed across several teams within the Research Office, you will ensure that these teams are able to integrate and collaborate effectively to deliver the Research Office functions to academic and professional staff colleagues. You will also take responsibility for monitoring and supporting cross-team collaboration and activities such as workplace health and safety, health and wellbeing, professional development and career planning.

As part of your role, you will lead the research grants and ARC/NHMRC postaward teams and the Research Excellence Support Hub (RESHub) – and online and physical space for collaboration and support for researchers.

You will be a highly motivated and passionate individual who strives to implement continuous improvement and culture change in a dynamic and evolving environment whilst also developing people to their fullest potential.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
