About SIP

At the heart of CSIRO's pursuit of excellence lies the Science Impact and Policy (SIP) business unit. Collaborating closely with scientists and engineers throughout the organisation and externally, this unit serves as an advocate for the quality of CSIRO's research endeavours and ensures that ethical responsibilities are upheld. Within this unit, teams oversee critical research funding programs, provide invaluable direction to CSIRO's Science Council, monitor and report on the health of our scientific pursuits, manage animal and human ethics procedures and committees, deliver the esteemed CSIRO Industry PhD program, and cultivate strategic partnerships with scientific institutions and universities. Moreover, the Science Impact and Policy business unit supports the Trustee of the Science and Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) in administering its pivotal programs.

The Role

The role of Director, CSIRO Science Impact and Policy presents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to CSIRO's profound impact on industry, society, and the environment. As the ideal candidate, you will possess an extensive background in scientific research and development, empowering you to support the organisation in upholding the highest standards of scientific excellence and integrity. A visionary leader, you will bring a wealth of experience in managing portfolios of projects and people within the realm of research and development. You will also bring exceptional problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills and governance acumen.

As the Director of CSIRO Science Impact and Policy, you will lead teams, foster collaboration, and champion innovation, all in pursuit of scientific research and development that remains unrivaled in excellence, integrity, impartiality, and independence.

Location: The preferred locations for this role include Clayton, Melbourne; Eveleigh, Sydney; Black Mountain, Canberra, however other locations may be considered
Salary:  Attractive Salary Package, based on experience
Tenure: Specified Term of 3 years - Full-time
