The IMT Risk Manager is a Line 1 role and provides advice and coordination across the business unit to effectively manage risk of the IMT business unit. This includes ensuring the business unit meets its commitment to:

  • integrate effective risk management practices across all levels of strategic and operational planning, processes, and performance reporting;
  • embedding a culture of risk management and awareness in accordance with IMT’s Strategy;
  • support the management of all types of risk for the business unit including cyber, legal, operational and strategic risk; 

The IMT Risk Manager reports to the Executive Manager Strategy, Performance and Risk. The role collaborates with all levels of staff across IMT, including with senior management, to provide a whole-of-business unit view of risk and risk management practices. The role will also collaborate with the CSIRO Enterprise Risk team, to ensure that IMT risk practices are aligned with the organisation’s policies and procedures.

The role provides training and support, analysis, and insights into IMT’s risk profile and guides continual improvement to promote better outcomes for the organisation and its clients.

Your duties will include:

  • lead support of IMT staff members and key governing bodies to understand their responsibilities with respect to risk management, including with a program of in-house training and advising opportunities;
  • coordinate the implementation of the CSIRO Risk Framework within IMT;
  • support Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) capability build;
  • be accountable for and oversee the management of a central Risk Register for IMT;
  • liaise with business owners, project managers, technical/operational risk leaders, among other relevant stakeholders to support the effective identification, assessment, treatment, monitoring, and review of risk across IMT;
  • establish and chair the IMT Risk Committee and prepare the reporting of risks for the committee’s review;

Location: Melbourne, Geelong, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Hobart preferred. Adelaide and Perth will be considered.
Salary: AU$121k - AU$142k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  1. Demonstrated understanding of governance, risk management, and quality improvement concepts;
  2. Demonstrated experience in advising senior leadership staff in risk-related matters;
  3. Demonstrated experience in managing/leading a team related to risk management;
  4. Demonstrated experience in the application and/or implementation of the Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management – Guidelines;
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of systems within a complex service delivery environment; 
  6. Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, with an understanding of risk evaluation methodologies.
