When you join Roy Morgan as the Tourism Research Director, you will be partnering and working closely with leading organisations in the public and private sphere to successfully deliver evidence-based research, insights and understand market trends.

About the Role

As the Tourism Research Director you will lead engagements that deliver exceptional service and provide data driven insights, answering key client questions and shaping business decisions for the tourism industry. You will lead and manage research projects, maintaining regular client engagement and ensuring projects are on time, and within budget and scope. You will also be involved in preparing proposals and tenders. This is a dynamic role and your responsibilities will include:

  • Deeply understanding the tourism industry
  • Designing and leading research engagements, including brand research, segmentations, trend and market analysis
  • Undertaking business development and managing an opportunity pipeline, including developing business plans to retain current clients and attract new ones
  • Leading account and customer relationships and developing strong partnership with clients and stakeholders
  • Understanding the value of Roy Morgan's own products, such as Roy Morgan Single Source and Helix Personas, and using these to address the business issues of our clients
  • Overseeing research data to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver research projects and drive business growth
  • Leading a team, as well as providing coaching and mentoring to other team members
About You
  • Tertiary qualification in business, management, social sciences, statistics, marketing and/or psychology, post graduate qualification is beneficial
  • A proven track record in market research, delivering successful client outcomes and achieving business objectives, ideally with experience within the tourism industry
  • Commercially minded, an innovative thinker and hands-on
  • Client centric, with a positive and collaborative attitude, and a passion for leading and working as part of a team
  • Exceptional relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills to build new business and partner with existing clients
  • Skilled market researcher with excellent problem solving and analytical skills. You are able to interrogate and understand market/industry trends and drivers
  • You are a storyteller - you are able to read and understand data and use data and information to provide meaningful insights to clients and external stakeholders
