Our client is seeking to engage Stakeholder Engagement & Governance Officers (APS5-EL1)

Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract Length: Non-ongoing 12 months.

Position Overview


The ITEC Senior Engagement and Governance Officer operates in a dynamic, high-profile environment and must be able to quickly grasp key strategic issues and directions and convey them simply and effectively to a broad audience.

They are responsible for effective cross-agency engagement, identifying specific issues, needs and interests of target stakeholders through timely and relevant consultation mechanisms. Assisting with meeting forums, responding to relevant stakeholder enquiries, and stakeholder mapping.

The supervisory role of this position includes leading the coordination of multiple activities, including planning, and managing project/activity timeframes whilst ensuring project outcomes are met. They will provide coaching, mentoring and on the job training for lower-level staff, also ensuring WHS, performance and leave management processes are in place. 

Tasks and Duties

  • Lead, plan and prioritize work, whilst adapting a flexible approach to changing business priorities, acting as the escalation point for matters of concern.
  • Initiate, build and maintain effective and productive working relationships/partnerships.
  • Initiate, build and maintain strong, productive working relationships with key stakeholders across internal and external networks.
  • Consult with and advise internal and external stakeholders, providing expert advice and anticipating and responding to their needs and expectations.
  • Maintain service delivery standards to ensure stakeholder expectations are met.
  • Cultivate a high-performance culture by setting an example for staff to follow.
  • Maintain current best-practice knowledge, including new thinking and approaches, and regularly communicate this to teams.
  • Manage a team, set work direction, and monitor and allocate workload, as well as develop work plans.
  • Identify, assess and prioritize risks to the successful delivery of the team’s outputs.
  • Assist with the development and tailoring of appropriate controls to mitigate risk to the team’s outcomes.
  • Maintain a risk register and/or an issues log, where appropriate.
  • Coordinating co-design working groups, workshops, and other events and in consultation with internal and external stakeholders to prepare co-design materials.
  • Lead and manage the coordination of all event logistics, working collaboratively with the communications and media teams to promote ITEC events.
  • Assist with the implementation and delivery of stakeholder engagement, responding to relevant stakeholder enquiries, and stakeholder mapping.

Preferred Role Requirements and Qualifications

  • Strong coordination skills, exercising sound judgement and problem solving.
  • Sound understanding of the principles of good governance and record keeping.
  • Experience in stakeholder management or governance.
