Telstra has emerged as Australia’s most-complained-about telco.

Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications company, has been named the most complained about telco by the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman for the three months to March.

The ombudsman received 17,777 complaints during the period, 40 per cent of which concerned Telstra, mainly relating to its mobile services.

Telstra suffered a widespread network outage just this week, when a planned network upgrade went wrong, leaving customers unable to make or receive calls.

The stats show complaints about mobile services have reduced overall, but still account for nearly half of all complaints received, while there were more complaints about getting connected to an NBN service, problems with bills, and service quality issues like slow data speeds.

Telstra says it is making progress in reducing complaints, which were 37 per cent lower than the same period last year.
