The Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet has received $10.9 million in funding for its in-house consulting service.

The aim of the new consulting model is to decrease the federal public service's reliance on external consultancies, following the PwC tax leak scandal.

To further enhance the skills of APS staff and improve policy analysis, $8.4 million has been granted to various departments under the APS Capability Reinvestment Fund.

The funding also includes $3.4 million for First Nations employment within the federal public service, while gender analysis capability will be embedded across all government budget decision-making from the 2023-24 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook.

The Office for Women will lead the implementation of gender impact analysis, which will be self-assessed by agencies against certain criteria.
