The New South Wales Government has announced the appointment of Brett Newman as the new Chief Executive Officer of Government Property NSW.

Minister for Finance and Services, Greg Pearce, said that Mr Newman’s extensive experience of the real estate market will be a boon to the property agency.

Government Property NSW is responsible for streamlining the State's property assets which includes identifying surplus and underutilised properties,” Mr Pearce said.

“The NSW Government is committed to offering a more simplified and transparent approach to managing the State’s $100 billion worth of property assets.”

Mr Newman’s previous roles include CEO of Stockland Capital Partners, where he was responsible for $900 million of management funds. He has also held senior property roles at Westpac subsidiary, Hastings Funds Management and Macquarie Bank.

Mr Newman will be responsible for implementation of recommendations arising from a review of property by the Property Asset Utilisation Taskforce. He will start in his new role on April 29.
