Kate Carnell will step down from as chief executive of the Australian Food and Grocery Council to take head up anti-depression charity Beyond Blue.

Under Ms Carnell leadership, AFGC has raised the profile of important issues and challenges affecting the $108 billion industry.  Some of AFGC’s recent achievements include the establishment of the Food and Health Dialogue with Government, the Food Manufacturing Industry Roundtable and work surrounding the National Food Plan and Food Processing Industry Innovation Strategy.

The AFGC has appointed Dr Geoffrey Annison as interim CEO of the council, with Ms Carnell finishing at the end of the week.

“I looking forward to working with AFGC’s strong and dedicated team within the Secretariat who will continue to carry on their excellent work in representing industry, which employs more than 312,000 Australians,” said Dr Annison, who has worked for the AFGC for more than four-and-half years.  “It will be business as usual at AFGC.”
