Local insurance giant Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) has bought 100 per cent of OHS provider Recovre.

In a deal announced this week, JLT says it is looking to bolster its existing workplace health and safety services by buying one of the biggest players in the game.

JLT will not say how much it paid.

Now that the deal is done, Nick Harris, chairman of JLT Australia's Benefit Solutions division, will assume the role of chairman at Recovre.

Recovre director Anthony Zalakos will continue in his current role as Director, while JLT’s Matt Bacon will become COO of Recovre.

The Recovre management team is expected to continue in their existing positions.

Mr Harris says JLT bought Recovre “for growth”, and intends to retain all of its employees.

“Recovre brings an exceptional team of specialists to JLT,” JLT CEO Lea Demer said.

“With workplace rehabilitation a growing and increasingly important area of focus for employees keen to return to work and clients and insurers looking to reduce the cost of absence.”

The recover team seems happy too, director Anthony Zalakos saying: “JLT’s investment in Recovre creates a fantastic opportunity for our clients and for our people”.

“By combining our specialist capability... we will improve our national client service capabilities and accelerate our growth strategy. “

Recovre was founded as a division of Allianz in 1987, and had been operating under private equity control since 2006.
