Media giant Fairfax has announced sweeping changes to its organisational and reporting structure, with significant reform announced to its Executive Leadership Team.

In a bid to simplify its Australian operations, the company will divide into five business divisions:

  • Australian Publishing Media, incorporating The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and other businesses previously contained within Metro Media, the Financial Review Group, Fairfax Regional Media, Agricultural Media, and FCN NSW;
  • Domain, which includes the print and digital elements of the Domain business together with the Metro Media Publishing joint venture;
  • Digital Ventures, which includes Stayz, RSVP, TenderLink, and other digital businesses. The existing Marketplaces division will not continue under the new structure; and
  • Fairfax Radio and Fairfax New Zealand, both of which remain unchanged from the previous structure.

Under the executive reshuffle, Allen Williams, previously CEO of Fairfax New Zealand, has taken up the newly-created role of Managing Director, Australian Publishing Media.

Andrew Boyle, currently the General Manager of the souther region of Fairfax New Zealand, has been appointed Acting Managing Director, Fairfax New Zealand.

The Metropolitan Media, Financial review Group, Fairfax Regional Media and Agricultural Media will now come under the umbrella of Australian Publishing Media.

The reshuffle will see Jack Matthews and Allan Browne step down from their roles within the Australian Publish Media section to be replaced by Nic Cola, Brett Clegg and Grant Cochrane.
