Malcolm Colless, a long serving senior executive with News Ltd, has slammed the “outrageous” claims that he attempted to influence a senator’s vote with promises of favourable media coverage.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) have confirmed they are officially investigating allegations by Bill O’Chee, a senator from 1990 to 1999, that he was bribed by offers of favourable coverage in exchange for crossing the floor to vote for legislation that would pave the way for digital television in Australia.

Colless, who worked for News Ltd for nearly 50 years, has denied that O’Chee’s claims are included in a class action against News Corp.
