The Federal Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy Stephen Conroy and the Minister for Finance and Deregulation Senator Penny Wong have announced Brenden Fleiter as the new Director of the Australia Post Board.

“Australia Post is one of Australia’s most valued and important corporations. It is essential, then, that the Australia Post Board has broad and relevant experience, knowledge and skills to ensure its efficient and high quality operation,” Senator Conroy said.

“I congratulate Brendan Fleiter on his appointment.”

Mr Fleiter has 25 years business experience, including 10 years in national retail and telecommunications. He is currently Chairman of the Titan Media Group and a member of the Australia Post eCommerce Advisory Board.

“Mr Fleiter has extensive retail business experience. He will be an invaluable addition to the Australia Post Board,” Senator Wong said.

Through his association with the ‘Crazy John’s’ retail network between 2000 and 2009, Mr Fleiter gained extensive retail experience, holding the position of legal adviser before becoming Managing Director in 2002 and Chief Executive Officer in 2007.

Mr Fleiter was previously a partner in a commercial law firm practising commercial litigation as well as a founding partner in Darren Muir Fleiter solicitors between 1993 and 2002.

He has held directorships of large private and unlisted public companies, including People Telecom Ltd between 2004 and 2009. He also holds directorships on not-for-profit and philanthropic organisations.

Mr Fleiter has been appointed for three years from 19 October 2011.
