The Role

Airlift Systems Program Office (ALSPO) is seeking a senior manager to oversee, lead and manage financial and contractual support aspects for the C-130J Hercules Weapon System working closely with industry to facilitate the provision of supporting systems including maintenance, simulation and training support and propulsions systems through its life of type. 

This position is based in Western Sydney at RAAF Base Richmond and the role requires a minimum of three days a week in location to perform the key requirements of the role effectively. 

Opportunities to work from home for other periods would be subject to the needs of the organisation and to be negotiated directly with your supervisor.  

As an executive level position, primarily requirements are: 

  • Extensive breadth and depth of experience and demonstrated performance working in complex Procurement, Contracting and Budget Management spaces
  • Demonstrated leadership and complex problem solving abilities 
  • Highly developed communication and engagement skills with approaches to challenges and that are considered, diplomatic, proactive, collaborative and focussed on ‘win win’ outcomes.
  • Demonstrated appreciation of what effective change management requires, leveraging recent experience with supported and lead initiatives  
  • A proven track record with understanding the strategic needs of a large organisation and being able to translate them and align them to lower level tangible actions and outcomes of value.

About our Team
Air Lift Systems Program Office (ALSPO) is a business unit within the Airlift and Tanker Systems (ATS) branch of Aerospace Systems Division (ASD) within Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG). ALSPO is the in-service support agency responsible for sustaining and enhancing the RAAF’s C-130J Hercules and C-27J Spartan aircraft. ALSPO, in partnership with industry, exists to support the RAAF's Air Mobility Group achieve its mission by providing effective sustainment support solutions. 

The Hercules Asset Management Unit is a highly capable and professional team operating in a dynamic integrated ADF and APS work environment. Building and maintaining cooperative and collaborative relationships are fundamental to our success. Located in Greater Western Sydney at RAAF Base Richmond, an hour west of Sydney, the Base has an employee accessible gym, tennis and squash court, pool and cinema. Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a motivated individual with demonstrated contracting and finance skills, along with an ability to understand and apply relevant legislation and policy. You may have experience working in similar roles and/or fields such as tendering, developing proposals, managing contracts, administering financial accounts or product / project management.
