About the Role  

We're looking for a highly driven and talented Cyber Security Operations Manager to oversee and deliver on the organisation’s cyber security program and ensuring compliance with cyber security policy, standards, regulations and legislation. 

Reporting directly to the Head of ICT and Cyber, this is a critical role where you will be responsible for delivering the Cyber Security “uplift” program to set the “baseline” for Cyber security across the MTS operational and ICT network.

As a trusted leader in the business, you will also manage, motivate and develop a small but diverse and high performing team of specialists who play an integral part in enabling a culture of cyber security across our business and through our supplier partners.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the Cyber Security Management Systems to protect Operations assets  
  • Manage the Change Management of all OT cyber security related changes, including patch/vulnerability management and OT system design changes in accordance with the existing MTS Configuration Management Plan
  • Manage Cyber security governance including maintaining standards, policies and procedures and conduct audits to ensure compliance with cyber security policies
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation relating to cyber security
  • Maintain oversight of technology, projects and system changes from a cyber perspective
  • Manage risk assessments and implement solutions to mitigate threats and risks 
  • Oversee cyber risk monitoring and incident response
  • Develop and report on key cyber security matters to the organisation’s senior executive, Board and senior managers
  • Contribute to the organisation’s business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Develop and deliver the cyber security communication strategy, awareness program and cyber training
  • Lead the Cyber security team members, including coaching, professional development, competency and performance management to drive a high performing culture
  • Manage the cyber security capital and operating budgets

About You 

This is a fast-paced role that requires a proactive and self-motivated individual. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading cyber security management in a complex operational environment. 

You have the ability to build relationships and interact with a wide range of internal, external, and sometimes challenging stakeholders at all levels, to achieve critical business outcomes. 

Most importantly you will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate, provide authoritative advice and ensure that complex cyber security concepts are conveyed and understood by non-technical audiences.  

Experience Required

  • Experience in designing, implementing or managing cyber security in an OT environment, preferably Transport sector
  • Experience in heavily regulated sectors 
  • Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ASD Essential Eight, ISO/IEC 27001, ITIL, CIS benchmarks, CIS controls, COBIT and ISA/IEC 62443 series of standards 
  • Good knowledge of Work Health and Safety Act and relevant safety legislation 
  • Solid experience in managing a diverse and high performing team of cyber staff to deliver business KPI’s, service excellence and continuous improvements in a railway operation
  • Proven record in delivering continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience and knowledge of Asset Management and sound understanding of budgetary, cost control, performance measurement activities
