Reporting directly to our dynamic and visionary Chief Operating Officer, St Vincent's Hospital Network Sydney is seeking to appoint an innovative and purpose driven Director of Nursing who seeks to make a legacy difference.

Based at St Vincent's Public Hospital Darlinghurst, home to the Gadigal People of the Eora nation, the Director of Nursing will hold a key role within the senior leadership team, bring unwavering industry expertise, a natural yet inquisitive leadership style, demonstrated experience actively influencing a restorative learning culture and building effective inter-professional relationships to ensure safe, highly reliable person-centred care systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead your portfolio; Nursing Professional Practice, Nursing Workforce, After Hours Nurse Managers, Infection Control and Prevention, Learning and Development and professional reporting relationships across nursing
• Provide strategic clinical and professional nursing leadership by contributing to nurturing nursing excellence
• Ensure accountability for clinical practice and safety requirements through best practice systems of clinical practice, clinical governance, and evidence-based standards of practice
• Ensure effective identification, management monitoring and reporting of risks
• Foster a culture of excellence, innovation and collaboration and oversee workforce planning to attract, retain, develop and grow quality nursing services committed to high standards and the provision of excellence in patient care outcomes
• Lead the development and implementation of new nursing workforce models to support contemporary clinical practice, continuous improvement in patient outcomes and experiences and organisational sustainability
• Ensure new and innovative clinical practices are implemented to improve patient flow and access and address other key challenges confronting health service delivery
• Ensure there is financial responsibility and accountability within the nursing portfolio, and develop and implement financial strategies that will ensure organisational sustainability

Selection Criteria

• Consistent demonstration of personal integrity and commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's
• Current Registration as Registered Nurse Division 1 and appropriate tertiary post graduate qualifications, preferably at Master's degree level
• Demonstrated 3 + years' experience in a senior or executive nursing or similar role managing a range of complex nursing portfolios in a hospital or healthcare setting
• Demonstrated strategic leadership to ensure achievement of organisational goals and objectives, including standards of Professional Practice, professional development of nursing staff, and workforce design
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of government regulations/policies, nursing reform agendas, nursing research, transformational practice development, leading change and implementing innovative models of care
• Ability to lead, foster, and actively influence a restorative just learning culture, and build effective inter-professional relationships to ensure safe, highly reliable person-centered care systems
• Demonstrated proficiency in budgetary and fiscal management within a constrained environment and knowledge of healthcare funding models, industrial and policy environments.
• Proven ability to function as part of a senior leadership team, with highly developed interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
