Provide high-level strategic analysis and policy advice on the legislative framework governing the petroleum, pipeline, and geothermal energy sectors.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Lead and undertake research, analysis and provide strategic policy advice to the Department’s Executive on the options for improved legislative reform of energy resource management legislation.
• Develop legislative and regulatory solutions for broader energy issues impacting the Territory.
• Form, and represent, the Department in cross agency working groups developing broader policy to ensure effective integration of policy and legislative reforms.
• Prepare and present complex reports, briefings, cabinet submissions, and drafting instructions on proposed legislative amendments and associated policy issues and initiatives.
• Develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels, within government and non-government sectors and relevant national bodies.
• Represent the Department on a range of Territory and national committees and working parties as required.
