Assistant Director General – Several – Corporate and Analysis Development roles

Senior Executive Service Band 1
Salary may be negotiated with the successful candidates
Canberra - ACT

We are seeking to attract talented candidates for positions at the Senior Executive Service (SES) Band 1 level that will contribute to ASD’s mission and have relevant skills to work across specialist and corporate development roles.

ASD is currently undergoing a significant transformation – doubling in size, expanding its presence both nationally and globally, and delivering significant new and enhanced intelligence and security capabilities for Australia. As a senior leader in ASD, you will have an important role leading this change.

We have two roles currently available, both with an important focus on leading development and skills frameworks for our workforce:

• The Assistant Director-General Organisational Development (reference #5510) role includes responsibility for enterprise-wide employee retention programs that support ASD to achieve this transformational growth. The role involves establishing new, and administering existing, specialist, technical, professional and personal learning and development programs, to best support staff across their career and transformation journeys.

• Analysis is a fundamental skill set for ASD to deliver its cyber defence, signals intelligence and offensive cyber functions. The Assistant Director-General Analyst Development (reference #5509) role is responsible for delivering policies and programs that build the analysis and language capability required to advance Australia’s national interests and defend Australia from global threats. The successful applicant will be required to grow and develop ASD’s analysis capability and readiness to meet the organisation’s ambitious transformation objectives.

If you are interested in these roles, please apply for job ASD/09176/23

Experience or demonstrated ability to lead organisational development and training, including skills frameworks, and/or experience or knowledge in analysis for intelligence or cyber is desirable.

In all SES Band 1 positions, you will have responsibility for leading a Branch through ASD’s current transformation, while continuing to deliver on the operational requirements of the position. You will work closely with international partners, and will manage an Australia-wide workforce.

As part of the Senior Leadership Group, you will play a key role in promoting and influencing a shared commitment to the strategic direction of ASD as the Australian Government’s foreign signals intelligence, offensive cyber, and cyber security agency. You will influence the strategic direction of ASD and work with colleagues across the Defence portfolio and Government to achieve results.

Successful applicants will exemplify ASD’s values and engender a culture of achievement, collaboration and agility. You will be self-aware, and will encourage and respect the diversity of ideas and perspectives that defines ASD’s workforce.
