The Department’s two related agencies - the Office of Environment & Heritage and the Office of Local Government - support the conservation and protection of the environment and an effective local government sector in NSW. Several other entities associated with the Department include the Environment Protection Authority, statutory trusts responsible for zoos, parks and gardens, independent assessment and planning bodies, and development corporations.
About the Role:
As the considered expert, the Senior Scientist will lead engagement with water modelling development and refinement to inform contemporary environmental water management and decision making.
Primary purpose of the role
- Use your experience to inform and support water management policies and programs with focus on improved river and wetland health outcomes
- Develop and demonstrate scientific and technical information to stakeholders - to support adoption into environmental water management and decision making
- Develop strategies to make the best use of multiple sources of water including opportunities for the coordination of flows across catchments
Essential requirements:
- Relevant scientific qualification and experience related to water modelling
- Proven experience in the use and application of modelling platforms to inform and support water management policy and programs with specific relevance to river and wetland health outcomes.
