Our Strategic Partnerships Group within CSIRO Growth is seeking an Executive Manager Global Partnerships, to play a key role within their Leadership Team! As a key member of the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for influencing the forming, shaping, and delivery of CSIRO’s international strategy to ensure the global partnerships portfolio has strong alignment to CSIRO’s corporate objectiveschallenge strategies and Missions Program.

You will lead The CSIRO Global team which drives collaboration to increase CSIRO’s international influence, establish strategic partnerships across industry and government, and connect the world with the best of Australia’s science, research, and innovation. The Global team are the international face of CSIRO with representation in the United States of America (San Francisco and Washington), Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Chile and across Australia.??

Your passion for collaborating, sharing knowledge, and fostering the growth of others will be imperative as you will be responsible for leading the international team to accelerate innovation and growth through strategic partnerships.

Your duties will include:

  • Maintaining awareness of current geo-political issues on major national and international challenges and best-practice approaches to addressing them through interdisciplinary approaches that include science, technology and humanities.
  • Establishing comprehensive processes to ensure cross coordination, internally with a range of science areas, different parts of Growth, and external strategic partners.
  • Accountability for the delivery of CSIRO’S Global strategy and creating a pipeline of relevant international partnerships.
  • Working across CSIRO’s priority international markets to define critical sustainable partnerships in collaboration with cross-disciplinary science areas and in alignment with Australia’s government agenda and national interests.
  • Serving as a thought partner to CSIRO leadership and other senior executive as they engage in bilateral and regional partnership discussions and formal collaborations.
  • In consultation with CSIRO science areas, being a trusted advisor to CSIRO leadership and other senior executive as they engage in bilateral and regional partnership discussions and formal collaborations.
  • Managing and maintaining relationships with key strategic customers and stakeholders to support the implementation of CSIRO business plans in a coordinated and purposeful manner.
  • Leading, managing and motivating a team of Science Counsellors and Heads of Country to deliver science diplomacy and program excellence by providing clear strategic direction, guidance on prioritisation of workstreams, together with input and coaching on key deliverables.
  • Understanding Ministerial and Government portfolio priorities and ensure that these are considered in delivering the global strategy.

Location: All AU CSIRO sites will be considered. A hybrid working environment will be available. 
Salary: AU$174,458 to$203,095 per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Flexibility to work across multiple time zones on a regular basis.
  • A minimum of 15 years of senior level work experience in a relevant field including internationally and relevant degree in conjunction with demonstrated achievement in leading an international team, senior advisory and managerial roles, ideally with postgraduate managerial qualifications. 
  • Strong general management skills – including line management of diverse teams - with the ability to lead a range of complex programs and stakeholders in a high growth international environment.
  • Strong experience in the field of international engagements and partnerships.
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding a high performing team, through coaching and development opportunities, as well as creating a culture that fosters innovative problem solving, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the Australian Government to delivery national benefit.
  • A broad knowledge of CSIRO’s capability, industry needs and government policy, understand the political, social and organisational environment, and align Business Unit and organisational objectives and an understanding of CSIRO’s current and potential role in international markets is highly desirable.  
  • The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Negative Vetting Level 1 or Level 2 with the support of CSIRO
