About the role

Reporting to the Group CFO, the GM, Finance - Merchant Energy will lead the financial strategy for our Merchant Energy business. Working closely with the Executive Director of Merchant Energy and senior leadership, this role will help drive performance and sustainable growth within the company’s trading portfolio and power generation assets, ensuring Alinta Energy's profitability and expansion.

What you’ll do

• Inspire, lead and develop a high performing finance function.
• Develop and manage our Merchant Energy financial strategy. 
• Drive profitable growth through investment analysis and portfolio optimisation.
• Mitigate financial risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Build strategic partnerships and influence key stakeholders across the business.
• Optimise resource allocation and financial performance.

Your experience

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting and membership to a professional financial institution.
• Significant experience in a senior finance position in financial markets, project finance, capital management or financial management within a heavy CapEx program.
• Prior experience in the energy industry and/or working in an organisation with trading activities will be highly regarded.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategy and business planning.
• Advanced reporting capability with experience in financial instruments and derivative reporting.
• Extensive experience in preparing reports and analysis for executive management.
