Group Manager - Microbiology

 

Your Impact

As the Group Manager - Microbiology, you'll play an integral role in maintaining the microbiological integrity of our products. Your extensive background in microbiology, preferably with brewing expertise, will be crucial in leading and supporting enhancement activities across our sites. You’ll work closely with Quality, Brewing, Beverage, and Packaging teams, as well as suppliers and partners, to elevate plant hygiene and product quality. Your comprehensive understanding of microbiology in a production setting will be vital. Success in this role depends on your ability to collaborate effectively with site teams and key internal and external stakeholders. We are looking for a proactive individual who can inspire teams and continuously explore ways to refine our processes and advance business optimisation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offering technical leadership and guidance across Microbiology and Brewing/Beverage functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with plant hygiene, CIP and product quality standards across our manufacturing sites.
  • Driving continuous improvements in microbiological compliance.
  • Developing and updating best operating practices and procedures.
  • Setting standards for food safety, brewing best practices, and quality processes.
  • Conducting site visits to identify and address improvement opportunities.
  • Engaging effectively with external stakeholders, including suppliers, labs, customers, and partners.
  • Analysing microbiology reports to offer technical guidance and support.

  • Degree in Microbiology.
  • Significant experience in a similar role within FMCG or manufacturing.
  • Strong background in brewing microbiology (highly preferred).
  • Extensive experience in auditing and driving continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence sites and teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP and food safety standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Superior communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Experience in business optimisation and project management.
  • Proactive, driven, and innovative mindset.
