What you'll be doing

The primary objective of the Director, Medical Services is to ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of the range of Medical Services as negotiated with the Northern NSW Local Health District.

  1. Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award, and/or working towards FRACMA and/or other post graduate qualifications that are appropriate and pertinent to the function of the DMS
  2. Demonstrated leadership experience and achievement as a Senior Manager in a Health Service including strategic planning, medical workforce planning and management, and change management.
  3. Demonstrated capability to effectively manage medical administration departments within similar health care organisation
  4. Demonstrated commitment to the principles and practices of clinical governance and clinical risk management and demonstrated capacity to implement and maintain continuous quality improvement management strategies
  5. Sound understanding of contemporary Health Service issues and the proven ability to prioritise and effectively manage resources to address these issues.
  6. Communication, negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills, incorporating the ability to liaise and consult with all levels of the health industry, the community and various professional groups.
  7. Valid unrestricted drivers licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
  8. Ability to participate in Executive on call roster.
