Governance & Council Business Specialist

Banyule is seeking a Governance and Council Business Specialist to join our organisation to provide high level governance advice and support to the Governance Coordinator, team and broader organisation.

 

As the Governance and Council Business Specialist you will bring energy, talent, vision and a high level of understanding of the Local Government Act 2020 and the Freedom of Information Act 1982. You will also have experience engaging with various statutory and oversight agencies such as the Victorian Ombudsman, the Independent Broad Based Anti-Corruption Commission (IBAC) and the Office of the Victorian Information Commission (OVIC).   

 

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Council Business - Provide expert advice and support to the Council meetings and Councillor briefing process and procedure
  • Governance - Provide advice and guidance on statutory requirements and procedures
  • CEO & Councillor Support - Provide back up support to the CEO, Mayor and Councillors team
  • Customer Focus and Continuous Improvement - Implement and maintain Continuous Improvement System standards and procedures

 You will have:

  • Working knowledge of the Local Government Act 2020 and other relevant legislation
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field with several years’ relevant experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in high level project management and administration
  • Experience in providing back up support to the Executive & Councillor Team Leader

  • Salary range $99,898.26 to $111,452.72 plus 10% super
  • Permanent full-time - 38 hours per week plus monthly rostered day off
