The Rheumatology Department at Sydney Children's Hospitals Network are seeking a temporary Post Graduate Fellow (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) for 12 months, to commence in April 2024. This position will be based at both the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and The Children's Hospital at Westmead. 

What you'll be doing
Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a paediatric rheumatology multi-disciplinary team. The scope of the service will involve inpatient and outpatient management of acute and chronic rheumatic disease including - but not confined to - inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune disease, vasculitis, uveitis and non inflammatory musculoskeletal disease
   
This role primarily involves significant outpatient and on-call duties equivalent to that of other senior staff in the department and additional duties in junior medical officer supervision across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network campuses.
Research, advocacy and education activities will be encouraged by the department for the successful candidate for this role.

Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

This position is a temporary, fulltime position for a duration of 12 months.

ASARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) 2 primary doses are required for Category A positions (refer to NSW Policy Directive PD2023_022 Occupational Assessment Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases).

In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate.

  1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Paediatric Rheumatologist, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways for the same
  2. Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Paediatric Rheumatology at the tertiary and quaternary referral level
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team
  4. Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
  6. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time
