The Adelaide Hills Council is committed to building the community through leadership, community involvement and commitment to service and they are integral to the delivery of several core services to the Adelaide Hills residents. An opportunity now exists for a Manager People & Culture to join their team on a full time basis.

The Role & About You

Working collaboratively with both the CEO and the Director Corporate Services, you’ll be a strategically focused, visionary leader who has a strong passion for organisational development and people. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to “shaping the next chapter” for the Council and you’ll be able to build rapport across the organisation through your warm and respectful approach.  You’ll be capable of driving change and transformation projects, and this, coupled with your pragmatic, consultative, contemporary HR approach will be integral to ensuring that employee engagement and culture are positively influenced. Your leadership will be critical to embedding the Council’s core values across the organisation so that the community continues to view the Council as an “employer of choice”.

As a seasoned practitioner you’ll resolve complex problems with ease, and you’ll partner with leaders across the business to achieve outstanding results. Your collaborative decision-making skill set, and dynamic approach will enable you to work with key stakeholders to build capacity and capability across teams.

Your exceptional leadership skills will allow you to effectively manage a team of WHS and HR professionals. You’ll have a strong understanding of relevant principles and you’ll be able to share your knowledge and mentor individuals allowing them to succeed, develop and grow.

Overall, you’ll efficiently manage the full P&C function, promoting positive change across the organisation, aimed at enhancing culture, diversity, and performance.

Key Selection Criteria

In addition to meeting the above profile, you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in human resources – or a related area
  • Substantial leadership experience where you’ve successfully worked with the executive team to achieve strategic projects
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including expertise in building relationships
  • Capable of liaising in a persuasive and influencing manner to engage diverse stakeholders and to achieve trust, engagement and desired outcomes
  • Local government experience is not essential to be considered for this position
