  • Full-time and continuing role
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus
  • HEWL 10A: $120,693 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation (plus 5.5% pay increase after 1st July 2023).

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
As the Executive Officer, you will be responsible for supporting strategic planning and providing high-level advice, research, data collection, reporting, and analysis to the Vice Chancellor and senior university executives. Your expertise will inform decision-making processes, ensuring JCU remains at the forefront of academic excellence. As you effectively manage key stakeholder networks on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, you’ll engage with a diverse range of individuals and organisations across university, community, industry, and government bodies to drive collaborative initiatives that benefit our institution and the wider community. Using your expertise in information management and communications, you will strategically coordinate sensitive and confidential information, and prepare correspondence, reports, briefing papers, and submissions. Drawing upon your leadership abilities, you will provide direction and decision-making support within the Vice Chancellor's office and promote effective governance and management practices. In addition, you’ll foster a culture of high performance, teamwork and innovation, empowering your team to excel and deliver outstanding outcomes.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
To succeed in this role, you possess a postgraduate qualification with relevant experience in a similar role, or a degree qualification with proven management expertise. Your skills and experience in business and strategic planning will be critical, enabling you to implement strategic and operational objectives across the organisation and effectively navigate change. Your advanced critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills will equip you to tackle complex matters and provide innovative solutions. You demonstrate exceptional communication skills to prepare comprehensive reports and documents with clarity and professionalism. High-level interpersonal skills will also be required to consult, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders at various levels to achieve collaborative outcomes. With proven management and leadership skills, you will excel at effectively managing human, financial, and physical resources, fostering a culture of growth and development within your team. With an understanding of budgetary and financial procedures, you will be responsible for managing an operational budget on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, contributing to the University's financial success.
