The City’s built and natural environments are a reflection of many years of successful strategic, and town and urban planning.

 Applications are now invited for the position of Director Planning & Development which reports to the CEO and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. This appointment represents an exciting opportunity to lead the City’s Planning and Development function and to position it as one of Australia’s finest.

 Leading a Planning & Development workforce of +130 FTE employees, the Director Planning & Development is responsible for delivering across four key areas; City Planning, Environmental Health, Business Improvement and Development Services.

 As a member of the Executive Leadership Team at the City, the Director must also contribute to whole of organisation strategies, initiatives and programs. At Directorate level, the Director oversees the management of strategy, policy, budget, risk management, performance, evaluation and reporting.

 Intending applicants must bring high level strategic leadership, management and planning skills and experience. The Director must be capable of communicating and working with a diverse range of stakeholders which will include a wide range of community groups, Elected Members of Council and from time to time State and Federal MPs. High level negotiation, communication, presentation and advocacy skills are essential.

 A total remuneration package of $237,500 to $279,300, inclusive of cash salary of $198,700 to $240,300, plus superannuation at 9.5%, and business and private use of a City provided motor vehicle ($18,000 value) will be negotiated.
