With a direct reporting line to the Group CEO, this role is pivotal in influencing the future direction of people focused matters spanning the entire Village portfolio.
What we will need from you
There are multiple facets to this role and we are looking for that special someone who can effortlessly deliver on the key requirements whilst maintaining the optimum balance between people and profit.
One of the main components of the role is to develop the People and Capability function and strategic plan to support and align with the company's overarching strategy. In doing this, you will be expected to establish yourself as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the VRL and Divisional Senior Executive teams. You will also advise and influence on the cause and effect of strategic decisions on the workforce and workplace culture.
Providing an outstanding employee experience is something that the People and Capability team are very passionate about so a big part of this role will be to ensure that we are able to align the experience with the purpose, vision and values of the Village Roadshow Group. To do this, you will be expected to analyse requirements, develop innovative strategies, and champion a healthy, connected and engaged workplace culture.
Anticipating changes by keeping abreast of future trends and contemporary people practices is built into your ethos. You will ensure regulatory compliance to the relevant legislation by overseeing the identification, assessment and mitigation of industrial relations issues and risks.
Creating frameworks to support employees through organisational change and establishing clear Group communications for people related initiatives are also integral to this role.

As a strategic thinking, commercially astute, technologically savvy leader, you will work directly with the Senior Executive team to support direction setting and change. All this while remaining cognizant of what the ROI looks like for strategic people initiatives and how technology can assist.
Your knowledge of Australian Industrial Relations framework and solid experience in enterprise bargaining agreement negotiations will come into play. Your ability to work across multitude of projects simultaneously will also be utilised.
With exceptionally well developed interpersonal, coaching and listening skills you will be seen as a go to trusted person for development and counsel. Your high degree of emotional intelligence will help you navigate and thrive in a dynamic and complex environment. Your courage and decisiveness to prioritize, to succeed – or to fail fast and move forward will set you apart from your peers and your proven ability to remain objective and discreet will further enhance the trust people have in you.
A strong “people first” mindset is essential and your flexible, pragmatic approach will be backed up with a bucket load of resilience and tenacity. Tackling ambiguity will not feel like an alien concept and your collaborative attitude will make people feel motivated and part of the solution. If you are accustomed to a heavily structured and regulated environment, then the strong bias for pragmatism over perfectionism might not suit.
Education and Experience
Essential
- A minimum of 10 years’ Human Resources experience at Senior Management level either in a private or public organisation.
- Post graduate/MBA HR or Business related Masters degree.
- Experience managing a diverse stakeholder groups in a complex and/or matrix environment.
Desired
- Exposure to enterprise bargaining agreement negotiations.
- Previous experience as a Senior Leader in an environment that has undergone significant transformation.
- Experience to agile and design thinking practices.
