Position: Consultant General Surgeon 
Location: Western Australia 
Salary: WA Award + generous package 

The Position 

We are currently assisting a regional hospital in WA to find a General Surgeon. As a General Surgeon in this hospital, you will be providing high quality surgical care to the patients of the local city and its surrounds. Alongside clinical work, you would also be involved in administrative leadership (with other team members) and quality assurance. There will also be an option to be involved in policy development and teaching of junior doctors and medical students. The surgical ward has 34 beds and there are two operating theatres. The surgical team have approximately 4000 cases per year, many of which are trauma related. 

The Hospital 
This hospital and health campus are part of one of the largest health services in the world. It provides care to a population of approximately 500,000, many of who are aboriginal. The hospital itself has 106 beds and provides a number of clinical services including, Surgery, Endoscopy, HDU, Paediatrics, 24-hour EM, Mental Health, O&G, Palliative Care and Dialysis. It is also the largest regional hospital in WA. The hospital has recently undergone a redevelopment worth over $50 million. 

The Locations 
This regional city is located inland from Perth and has a population of approximately 30,000. and is a hub for a number of services, including miners and the Royal Flying Doctors Service. It is considered part of the 'Golden Mile' due to the number of Gold Mines in the area. Though it is largely known for being a mining town, Kalgoorlie is also home to number of sporting facilities. Its strong community feel also allows the population to have a good work-life balance. 

To be eligible for this opportunity you must have your FRACS in General Surgery.
