Regional Director Medical Services 
Location: Goldfields-Esperance Region, WA 
Salary: $354,487 - $451,677 p.a. 
Period: Fixed Term Full Time - 5 years 

Our client is the largest country health service in Australia, and one of the largest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, across a 2.5 square kilometre area. 
The region consists of 7 regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services, and health centres that are located across the rural and remote region of Western Australia. 

The role: 

This position is based in Kalgoorlie - which has been traditionally a large mining town. The town has a large number of community services, very suitable for families from young to retiring; as well as individuals; these include sport facilities, clubs, societies, and other social services. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who embraces a good work-life balance - wherein community is the key strength of the town. Being located inland, the weather is peri-dessert and there is weekend access to the beach community of Esperance - the famous pink lake of Australia! 

Our client is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced an enthusiastic individual to the position of Regional Director Medical Services. The incumbent will be committed and passionate for rural and remote healthcare. 

The position will provide strategic leadership in the following areas: 
" Clinical governance 
" Professional affairs 
" Quality improvement 
" Medical best practice 
" Patient safety 

As the most senior medical administrator within the region, this role will provide high quality support and advice to the Regional Director and Regional Executive regarding key issues impacting on the provision of medical services within the region. It is essential to align medical services to the overall health service strategic plan of 2019. 

Applications will have: 
ESSENTIAL 
1. Eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia. 
2. Demonstrated experience in the application of clinical governance within healthcare, including safety and quality programs and change management. 
3. Demonstrated excellent strategic management and project management skills including the ability to plan, prioritise, make decisions, meet deadlines and manage resources. 
4. Demonstrated leadership skills and highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
5. Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of professional issues and trends in the medical profession, with a particular focus on rural and remote service delivery. 
6. Considerable experience in a senior management role in the health sector, preferably in a hospital environment. 
7. Current knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety and Health, and how these impact on employment and service delivery. 
8. Eligible for or in possession of a current C or C-A class driver's licence. 
DESIRABLE 
1. Postgraduate qualification in health administration eg FRACMA, MBA, MHA, FCHSM 
2. Experience in liaising with private medical practitioners (VMPs) and government and non-government agencies. 
3. Substantial clinical experience especially in rural or remote settings.
4. Ability to fully engage with the local community and travel within the Region.
