Health and Safety Manager - Services VIC

The Purpose of this position is to partner with the operational teams, provide expertise and support to facilitate health and safety activities and projects for the allocated regions and business division, in accordance with defined company and legislative standards.

This role will be based out of either our Hallam or Fairfield offices, as travel across both is required.

Duties include (but not limited to):

  • Partner with Employees, Supervisors and Managers to provide technical support & advise to facilitate continuous improvement opportunities in the performance of both leading and lagging HS&E activities and events
  • Meet with local management to discuss weekly/monthly HS&E activities, weekly incidents and statistical performances to review and support prioritised risk management and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate, develop and present company specific training programs including toolbox meeting topics based on training gaps analysis and business operational requirements
  • Process and review worker’s compensation claims in a timely manner and attend case conferences with external parties and internal conferences to discuss claim status and progress
  • Act as the Return to Work Coordinator ensuring suitable duties are available, communicated and formally approved taking any restrictions in to consideration whilst communicating with medical practitioners, insurance companies and rehabilitation providers to ensure early intervention, return to work to meaningful & suitable duties and continuing positive rehabilitation progress is achieved
  • Reporting on the performance of the Integrated Management System to the Managing Director
  • Assist with any HS&E related information required in the process of responding to tenders
  • Other duties as required

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety
  • At least 3 to 5 years’ experience working in Health and Safety
  • Ideally experience with an electrical or services industry
  • Return to Work and Rehabilitation qualifications and/or experience
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating HS&E activities and projects in a similar role
  • Understanding of and ability to research HS&E legislation, trends and issues
  • High standard of written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical skills in reviewing activities and identifying key actions to deliver improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and foster a proactive safety culture
  • Ability to influence and drive a safety culture at all levels of the organisation and other stakeholders
