We are seeking highly motivated leaders to manage the medical devices and GMP clearance programs and reforms projects, including the Medical Device Action Plan. The roles lead teams of technical experts who assess the quality and performance of therapeutic goods; monitor signals to identify and as appropriate investigate non-compliance; engage internationally and through standards development to influence the quality of devices available for Australians; and develop and deliver a diverse set of projects and activities.

To be successful you will:
  • have a proven ability to work as part of a leadership team, thinking strategically and planning for the future;
  • have a proven record of delivering outcomes and proactively taking the initiative;
  • have strong leadership skills, with experience in leading a diverse range of staff across a wide geographic area, encouraging flexibility and innovation;
  • have a record of achievement in regulatory science, technical assessment, program management, healthcare and/or managing health and safety risks.
The successful applicants will provide strategic guidance to regulatory teams in ways that promote the APS Values and obligations. They will lead and implement regulatory best practices as well as coaching and mentoring team members. In addition to leading and managing aspects of the medical devices and GMP clearance programs, the successful applicants will be responsible for advancing regulatory and operational reforms projects.

A merit pool will be created from this process and may be used to fill similar EL2 vacancies that may become available within 12 months from the date advertised in the APS gazette.
