The Role
Defence is implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system across a broad range of capabilities in support of Defence’s core mission. The Executive Director will lead an integrated team of ADF, APS and managed service providers providing strategic advice and operational support to sustain ERP as it goes live and ensure enduring applications suites continue to meet agreed service levels. You will play a key role in building cross-functional services to Groups and Services, industry partners, and with whole of government initiatives.

You will plan, innovate, and provide advice regarding highly complex ERP portfolio strategy issues including prioritisation of initiatives, monitoring and management of interdependencies, and risk management and mitigation. You will develop and manage strategic relationships while planning and delivering the highly complex transition of data and applications into ERP including decommissioning of legacy applications and data.

An Individual Flexibility Arrangement (IFA) - (including enhanced remuneration) will be available for the right candidate.

IFA's provide remuneration and/or other conditions in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA). This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. The additional remuneration provided through an IFA does not form part of your permanent substantive salary and could be ceased at any time. Should this occur your salary will revert to the substantive salary amount offered.

About our Team
You will lead a large team of APS, ADF and contractors to deliver a stable, reliable whole of Defence platform at agreed service levels. You will develop and sustain strategic relationships with ERP and Defence Stakeholders. Through your exemplary leadership you will deliver a stable yet evolving platform which will regularly introduce new capabilities and transform the way Defence operates.

Our Ideal Candidate
You will have strong, established and demonstrable experience in the following areas:

  • Knowledge of SAP and experience in delivering services based on SAP software and development lifecycle;
  • Development and implementation of Service Management practices and frameworks;
  • Negotiations and provision of advice in complex situations to high level stakeholders;
  • Management of high value, highly complex contracts, negotiating value outcomes for Defence;
  • Building, maintaining and leveraging complex relationships across government and industry;
  • Leading complex multi-disciplinary team constructs including developing and transitioning teams as applications move into ERP service;
  • Securing and managing large budgets.
