The Role
The Director Service Delivery (DSD) NSW leads an integrated and regionally devolved workforce responsible for the delivery of base support and estate functions across a geographical region. The DSD is responsible for the effective integration, coordination and provision of a wide range of estate services across the Defence base estate footprint as well as promoting effective integration and alignment of the regional services to ensure national consistency objectives, innovation reform and group outcomes are delivered.

The position is also an advocate and champion for other APS personnel within the allocated geographical area of their responsibilities including working closely with their peers across the group and broader enablers to support customer centered delivery and national outcomes.

Key responsibilities include reviewing team and business performance, identifying and capitalising on opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

About our Team
This key leadership position reports to the Assistant Secretary Regional Services within the Service Delivery Division of the Security and Estate Group. The Director Service Delivery – NSW is one of four Executive Leadership positions that are form the East-West Zone (East-West Zone covers the ACT, NSW and WA regions).

The DSD-NSW is responsible for the geographically dispersed Base, Estate and Environment management teams responsible for the provision of base, office and estate support within SNSW. These teams deliver customer focused outcomes through effective, integrated partnerships with senior members of the Australian Defence Force Services, customers, contract partners and other stakeholders. The team work in a dynamic, multifaceted and high tempo environment that brings rewarding challenges and a great sense of purpose.

To be effective in this high profile role you will think strategically and work interdependently with other Defence functions, and be a strong team player focused on achieving effective outcomes. This will require highly developed communication and relationship management skills.

The successful candidate will have previously demonstrated:

  • A high order of people leadership capability – DSD’s are responsible for leading a large and devolved service delivery team within their direct line of responsibility as well as effectively influencing and engaging with our contract partners to support the delivery of effective and integrated services and reforms.
  • Effective and well developed stakeholder relationship skills – the ability to foster networks and build strong relationships across organisational boundaries is a critical skill required in this role.
  • Capability to effectively drive and embed change and reform in their teams – the ability to influence change and well as embed and drive achieving results through their people.
