The Role
Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced cyber security practitioner to lead the Defence Security Operations Centre (DSOC). Under broad direction, the Director DSOC is responsible to the Defence Chief Information Security Officer to lead the cyber security operations, including support to Australian Defence Force Operations undertaken by the DSOC.

The Director DSOC provides daily management and operational oversite of 24x7 cyber security operations, and is responsible for the delivery, sustainment and maturation of DSOC’s incident response, digital forensic, hunt, threat intelligence and enabling functions. As an integral member of a cyber-security senior leadership team, they coordinate incident response activities in support of Defence and Other Government Agencies to defend Defence’s critical networks and systems.

Our Ideal Candidate
As Director DSOC you will have extensive experience in the management and employment of cyber security operations practices and tradecraft, and have a robust understanding of a Security Operation Centre’s technical functions required to support operational capabilities. You will have a high level of business acumen and a demonstrated ability to support and translate strategic direction to enable DSOC’s effective operations against a persistent cyber threat. You will demonstrate a capacity for evidence and risk based decision making aligned to organisational priorities. As part of a leadership team comprised of APS, ADF and contractors, your strong teamwork skills will be pivotal to delivering Directorate level outcomes. Your ability to communicate and negotiate with influence will be critical to internal and external stakeholder management to achieve results. Your personal resilience and ability to solve complex problems will enable you to effectively operate in a high tempo and dynamic environment with competing priorities.
