Assistant Secretary ICT Infrastructure Delivery

The Department of Defence is seeking a dynamic senior executive with the ability to drive the organisation forward, look for new ways to deliver better ICT services and improve the ICT environment to ensure work can be carried out as securely and efficiently as possible.

The Assistant Secretary ICT Infrastructure Delivery is responsible for leading teams in supporting the integrated delivery of major ICT projects in the Defence Integrated Investment Program and minor projects. This includes the delivery of key capability to Defence through ICT infrastructure projects, such as integration of new ICT systems, relocation of data centres, preservation of heritage applications and the provision of multiple voice and data services nationally and internationally. The role is required to lead and oversee inter-related engagement with internal and external stakeholders, across Defence, other APS agencies, and vendors and contracting providers.

The successful applicant will have:
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management and delivery;
  • Experience implementing information and communications technological organisational change; and
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skill in relation to the development and management of large scale, collaborative ICT projects.
As a Branch Head (SES Band 1) you will join the Senior Leadership Group that plays a key role in promoting and influencing a shared civilian/military commitment in the strategic direction of Defence. In this role you will:
  • lead and manage a Branch practicing inclusive leadership and collaboration
  • demonstrate high judgement and capitalise on innovative alternatives to resolve complex problems
  • effectively challenge the status quo when required
  • demonstrate resilience and personal accountability for the quality of advice and delivery of results

To be eligible for the role, you must be:
  • An Australian citizen or intending to become one, and
  • Assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
