The Department of Defence is seeking a dynamic senior executive with drive and leadership, an inclination to innovate and explore new ways to deliver the best ICT services, and to improve user experience and outcomes when reporting ICT issues.

The Assistant Secretary Service Management promotes and manages the integration of ICT services and provides end to end ICT service planning, delivery and support across a diverse range of services. You will be required to mitigate ICT operational issues, coordinate delivery of new or changed ICT services, provide excellent customer service, and manage ICT assets as a service. This includes managing and resolving complex issues and risks to deliver effective ICT solutions that are in line with future Defence capability requirements. You will also be highly responsive to urgent issues (system outages or problems) that require quick decision-making, a high level of problem solving and a rapid response.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated understanding of ICT systems integration;
  • Strong understanding of service management and vendor management; and
  • Comprehensive knowledge and skill in relation to the development and management of large scale, collaborative ICT projects.

As a Branch Head (SES Band 1) you will join the Senior Leadership Group that plays a key role in promoting and influencing a shared civilian/military commitment in the strategic direction of Defence. In this role you will:

  • lead and manage a Branch practicing inclusive leadership and collaboration
  • demonstrate strong judgement and capitalise on innovative alternatives to resolve complex problems
  • effectively challenge the status quo when required
  • demonstrate resilience and personal accountability for the quality of advice and delivery of results

Eligibility
To be eligible for the role, you must be:

  • An Australian citizen or intending to become one, and
  • Assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance.
