The Discipline Leader Cognitive Science will work under broad direction to lead the development and sustainment of the Cognitive Science team within the Cognition and Behaviour (C&B) Science and Technology Capability (STC), located in Edinburgh, South Australia.  They will strategically shape the cognitive science capability, build and maintain team culture, understand and communicate priorities, collaborate internally and externally, and help to lead client engagement in this area. They will also be expected to take a lead in experimental design, planning, coordination, execution, data collection, analysis and reporting of studies. As part of the C&B Executive group they will play an important role in the achievement of a number of high profile programs and partnerships including the Human Performance Research Network and the Army's Human Performance Centres.

The S&T6 Discipline Leader Cognitive Science will lead and contribute to research on human cognition (executive functions) to enhance decision making and situational awareness.  The successful applicant will have considerable relevant knowledge of and/or experience in the Cognitive Psychology and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the impact of their work in the Defence context. The S&T6 Discipline Leader Cognitive Science will provide cognitive science input and advice in support of a range of Australian Defence Force (ADF) stakeholders, as well as engaging collaboratively within DST and with external partners.
