Human Resource (HR) Solutions Manager

THE ROLE

At Defence Housing Australia (DHA), we provide quality housing and related services to Defence members and families. In doing this, we support the operational, recruitment and retention goals of the Department of Defence.

As the HR Solutions Manager, you will provide analysis, design and specification development of new and existing HR systems and processes to support the business. You will provide strategic advice and investigate complex issues to determine optimal solutions that are fit for purpose, integrated with existing processes and systems and improve the effectiveness and customer experience of HR interactions.  

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A thorough understanding of the environment HR operates in and the processes and systems used to achieve outcomes
  • An ability to optimise the use of HR systems and processes to improve functionality, reporting and customer experience
  • The ability to analyse, design and specify the requirements of new and existing IT systems to support HR  
  • The ability to apply knowledge of systems and translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Experience in the continuous improvement of business processes and procedures
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Exceptional writing ability and be able to produce succinct, persuasive and logical business cases to influence change.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT

This is a full-time position. DHA’s core business hours are between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.  DHA operates under flexible working hours and staff may be required to work outside core business hours at times. 

MAIN DUTIES 

  1. Actively seek opportunities to improve and optimise the use of the existing HR and other business systems
  2. Lead continuous improvement of the section’s work practices, policies, guidelines, templates and operating procedures in accordance with the APS and DHA policies and procedures
  3. Advise on methods to improve processes and remove non value-add activities
  4. Contribute to broader workplace strategies and team activities of the People and Capability team as a leader
  5. Assist with definition, analysis and testing of business systems including the investigation and determining options to resolve system problems
  6. Translate business rules and requirements into functional specifications, acceptance criteria and other technical documents
  7. Prepare and document workflows for new or enhanced systems
  8. Analyse and interpret technical information to compose detailed operating procedures.
