An exciting opportunity is available for work in the new Medical Retrieval and Consultation Centre (MRaCC) at Alice Springs Hospital. The MRaCC serves as a virtual Emergency Department where remote practitioners can access expert clinical advice, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our co-ordinators are responsible for tasking retrieval teams and providing remote support for optimal patient care in the pre-hospital environment, incorporating the use of telehealth. The service covers 1.4 million square kilometres, responding to remote health clinics, cattle stations, road houses and primary road side trauma.

Alice Springs Hospital is a 200 bed facility, with a busy mixed Emergency Department seeing 49000+ presentations per year. Whilst patients needing specific tertiary services are transferred to either Adelaide or Darwin, most critical care patients are managed locally within the Intensive Care Unit. We maintain strong positive working relationships with in-hospital teams, and the local ambulance service.

We are looking for people prepared to commit to a physical presence in Central Australia, and maintain a part time position in their base speciality. Current AHPRA and specialist registration in Emergency, ICU, Anaesthetics or Remote and Rural medicine is required.

High attention to detail with above average time-management, teamwork and communication skills are a necessity of the job. As is the ability to work safely in complex cross-cultural environments.

Alice Springs Town

Alice Springs is a family friendly town, with several schooling options and a small enough geography that you only ever spend 5 minutes commuting to weekend activities. The surrounding McDonnell Ranges are exquisitely beautiful. And with blue cloudless skies almost every day, Central Australia provides an unbeatable opportunity for the outdoor enthusiast, with easy access to camping, hiking, rock-climbing, mountain-biking and cycling.
