Director, Online Subject Development

The Role

  • Fixed Term, Full Time (up to 5 years)
  • Remuneration package in the range of $174,355 - $217,944 pa
  • The position would normally be located at one of our main campuses: Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Canberra, Port Macquarie or Wagga Wagga

The Transform Online Learning (TOL) Project is a key activity of the University's 2017-2022 Student Strategy. The project aims to ensure that CSU continues to maintain a sector leadership position through transformative innovations in quality assured online subject design, development and delivery.

The Director, Online Subject Development will report to the Pro Vice Chancellor, Learning and Teaching, with an overarching responsibility to lead online subject development within the TOL Project. During 2018-2020 the position will be seconded to the Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences (BJBS) to establish a Faculty embedded approach to re-design and development of existing online subjects working closely with the Sub-Dean (Transform Online). The Director, Online Subject Development will be responsible for creating 'on-time' and 'on-budget' systems, processes and practises for implementing the TOL Learning Experience Framework.

The Director, Online Subject Development will work closely with the Faculty Leadership Team, and the central TOL project team in the PVC's Division.

To be successful you will have:

  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in online design and production including substantial staff and budget management experience in any of the following sectors: higher education; tertiary education; post-secondary education; private sector
  • An understanding of the nature of the work and important quality principles, relating to higher education curriculum design, learner experience design, digital media production, and online learning evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading a learning design and development team operating within well-defined workflows, project management procedures and quality benchmarks
  • The ability to establish a new online learning design and development model with defined responsibilities, workflows, timelines and quality management processes, suitable for replication across all faculties
