Reporting to the Deputy Secretary/Chief People Officer, the Executive Director, HR Operations will provide strategic leadership in the implementation of Departmental human resources strategies, policies and programs to deliver better client services, ease of access and transparency of information. The role leads a sizeable team, shaping the strategy and operating model to drive policy and process design and implementation of people processes, operations and technology.  Delivering on the talent strategies and fostering a high performing, customer-focused culture will be key to success.

Key challenges will include balancing short term and long term priorities to enable innovative human resource strategies and frameworks to meet Departmental requirements, while maintaining employee engagement and resolving urgent people matters; prioritising major programs, projects and initiatives to manage risk and expectations; and building a culture of service excellence - which embraces change and innovation, quality outcomes and continuous improvement.

You will need extensive experience in leading and transforming contemporary HR operations in a large scale, complex and highly unionised service delivery environment.  A record of achievement in creating a dynamic, performance driven and customer service focused culture will also be essential.   The role will require strengths in people leadership across large and distributed teams, influencing and negotiation to drive strategic program delivery, along with, budget management skills and contemporary digital capability.  

Candidates will need a demonstrated commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policyand upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Groupand to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
