About your environment

Cancer Council Victoria has been leading efforts against cancer since 1936 through world leading research, prevention, support and advocacy programs. Within the Behavioural Science Division, the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer (CBRC) conducts high quality applied behavioural research and evaluation to inform and influence cancer control policies, programs and services. Led by Professor Melanie Wakefield, the Centre has an international reputation as a key provider of cancer control advice, research and advocacy, with active programs of research underway in tobacco control, skin cancer prevention, obesity prevention, alcohol harm reduction and cancer screening.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Research and Evaluation Officer to join the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer (CBRC) team, working predominantly in tobacco research. Reporting to the Senior Research Fellow, your role is to:

  • Manage two key intervention studies examining reach and impact of innovative tobacco control mass media campaigns.

  • Coordinate research projects, conceptualise study design and ensure evaluation components are embedded in program planning, to meet established project goals.

  • Prepare status reports, project reports and papers for peer-reviewed journal publications.

Establish yourself as a key member of our respected research centre applying your expertise in research and evaluation across a variety of significant studies.

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor of Arts, Science or Behavioural Science (Honours) or equivalent AND substantial experience and competence in behavioural research or health promotion evaluation design and methods.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and conduct quantitative evaluation and research studies and design survey instruments.

  • Excellent project management skills, including the flexibility to juggle various projects, and prioritise and schedule tasks with minimal supervision.

What we can offer you

This full-time fixed term position for two years provides a salary between $80,000 - $95,000 pa commensurate with experience, plus superannuation, annual leave loading and the benefits of not-for-profit salary packaging and a meal entertainment card.
