The Department of Defence is seeking to fill the Senior Executive Service Band 1 position of the Assistant Secretary Corporate and Business Enablement in the Chief Information Officer Group. The position may be based in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide.

The Assistant Secretary Corporate and Business Enablement is responsible for delivering consistent, consolidated, risk managed commercial services including contract management to the Chief Information Officer Group and other ICT delivery entities, and business enablement services including planning and reporting, risk, audit and change management services to the Chief Information Officer Group. The successful candidate will be required to understand and monitor a range of external factors relating to commercial ventures, including an understanding of cross-jurisdictional and international issues which may impact on large scale contracting negotiations. This includes aligning the Chief Information Officer Group's sourcing approach with the Defence sourcing strategy, Whole-of-Government ICT sourcing directions and broader Government procurement policies.

The remuneration package includes superannuation, an Executive Vehicle allowance and, where applicable, relocation expenses. The salary component for this position may be negotiated with the successful candidate within the Defence Senior Executive Service Band 1 salary range.

Engagement may be negotiated on an ongoing basis or for a specified term. To be eligible for ongoing appointment, an applicant must be, or intend to become, a permanent Australian citizen. This position is a security-designated position. The successful applicant will be required to undergo a security assessment to the appropriate level.
