The Electron Microscope Unit is a central research and research training facility within the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre. The EMU has 17 major instruments, a current staff of 11 and supports the research and research training of >550 researchers and research students each year. The unit is a node of the Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Facility
About the role

This Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor academic position is for an Associate Director to develop bio-electron microscopy in the Electron Microscope Unit in the UNSW Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre. A need exists for the expansion of biological electron microscopy research, data collection and interpretation, researcher support and training, and development of new protocols that will be published in the public domain and enhance the reputation of the MWAC, AMMRF and UNSW. The position will be linked to a School (such as the School of Medicine) within UNSW.
About the successful applicant
To be successful in this role you will have:
- demonstrated ability to develop a forward planning strategy and vision for bio-EM at UNSW commensurate to experience;
- a PhD and academic experience in a discipline involving extensive use of electron microscopy in the field of biology, including experience with TEM of biological samples;
- experience with sample preparation for analysis of a range of samples and with software used for analysing data;
- experience working with, training and supervising others within a multidisciplinary research environment.
